WORSHIP SERVICES

Sunday Worship and Breakfast 8:30 a.m.  

Every Sunday morning people from all walks of life come together for a hot, home-cooked breakfast and a heaping helping of spirited worship and gospel messages delivered by Coach “M” and Al Rafiq. The experience is uplifting, heartwarming and a real example of First English’s ability to carryout its mission everyday. Our suburban congregations partner with us to make it possible. Together, we are “feeding the spirit as we feed hungry people.”

Tradition blends with the changing face of our neighborhood and the world around us in this unique service – a coming together of old and new. Every Sunday in our magnificent sanctuary we gather for Lutheran liturgy, fellowship & communion with a gospel message and a variety of music that represents our rich past, our dynamic present and our promising future.

COMMUNITY MINISTRIES

Thursday Community Dinner 6:00 p.m. 

Thursday nights at First English are special, we call it our Table of Grace. Folks from the local retirement centers as well as local families and neighbors join us for a community meal, activities and conversation. Our partnering congregations help us prepare and serve a hot meal and gather around the table to grow relationships and share faith.

Neighborhood Clean-Ups

First English, in partnership with the City of Columbus, officially adopted the surrounding neighborhood as part of the Keep Columbus Beautiful program.  We sponsor several neighborhood clean-ups throughout the year including vacant lot grass-cuttings, litter pick -up and flower planting.  More than 100 people showed up at our most recent clean-up event in April 2009!

Community Safety Initiative 

Working with the US Attorney Office, DEA, ATF, city and county professionals, Columbus Police and OSU, First English is developing a unifying strategy for community development to reduce gun violence in the neighborhood.
